Coming up for air

Life has been quite the challenge lately!! It started in the middle of last week when I had to prepare for my Thursday clinical day on Wednesday, all the while packing b/c I was leaving with some friends for our Board of Nursing Trip on Friday in Tallahassee. So, after my 10hr day in the PCU I headed home, took a shower, and by 7pm we were headed off. It was pretty uneventful but I have to say that some of those nurses should be glad I wasn't on the board, b/c there was one case in particular that I would have revoked their license without hesitation. All in all it was a good trip.

We came back Friday night and I was exhausted. I wasn't feeling too good and had been battling a recurrent headache the entire time, so I hit the sack and woke up a few hours later and realized I hadn't taken my shoes off...I was that tired. Then I had a horrible pain in my neck & my back and realized I had been sleeping on the wrong pillow. Since injuring my neck 2 years ago, I have to sleep with a specific pillow or I am in quite a bit of pain. Well, the pain hasn't let up since then and I ended up being on pain killers & muscle relaxers until today. I feel horrible b/c I woke up not knowing what day it was and had a text from one of the girls in my Sunday School class asking who the teacher was supposed to be...by that time it was the afternoon, and I had been sleeping for almost 24 hrs straight. The pain has eased ever so slightly, but I am still in constant pain.

I also had my second exam yesterday, and since I barely passed my first one, I spent every moment I wasn't asleep, studying...and I did a little better this time. I just have to keep telling myself that C's get degrees ;o)

So, I haven't had much time to catch up on my blog reading...but I shouldn't be as busy this week. This time I have over 250 to catch up on, so please be patient with me b/c I really do love reading what you incredibly witty people have to say!!

I hate headaches! And to sleep for almost 24 hours - clearly your body needed it. Take care of yourself!

I hope your headaches and muscle pain go away really quickly! You have had a heck of a week.

I can empathize with you! Feel better:)

P.S. My sister has the same pillow issue. She had to special order hers through her medical insurance. How weird?

My husband goes through the terrible neck and back pains so I feel for you. And I experienced it lately on a smaller level so I can only imagine. I do hope you're feeling better!

Oh I hope the pain fades. Sandy was in a hit and run accident like 6 years ago and is in constant pain in her neck all the time, she gets injections and accupuncture but is still always in pain, so I would not wish anyone that kind of pain. Migraines are bad enough!

What a week! Hope you are feeling better! BTW, I still haven't read Mud PIe Annie to the kids - they won't let me until 'Aunt Mary reads it to us first! It's HER book!'. Just add that to your 'to do' list! he he!! Seriously, feel better soon!

Feel better, that sounds like no fun at all, and good luck at school.

I also wanted to let you know that the book was mailed out on Wednesday media mail. No clue how long that takes but coming this way it sure didn't take long, did it?

Wow I sure hope you get to feeling better soon. I dont think that there is anything worse than the feeling of pain.

Did I ever tell you that my mother is a retired RN? She was the director of a program called first steps. Its an Early Childhood Intervention Program for kids with retardation, add, downs syndrome things like that. Of course Im sure you are probably already familiar with it. Before that she worked in the ER at the hospital.

Love and Prayers,

Tim
