The snaps made me snap!

I've worked in day cares and nannied through High School, but I swear I don't remember all those crazy snaps on onesies/sleepers! I'm guessing it's more apparent to me know because I feel like my whole day is consumed by un-snapping and snapping onesies in between the million diaper changes for the boys. What ever happened to zippers? They are so much faster, but I guess people worry about getting skin caught in them...but they are so much faster.

I think I hit my breaking point Monday. It was my first day alone with the boys and they did their best in not allowing me to get more than 30 minutes of sleep during the day. I was about to cry when Eric called and said he didn't have to go to GA and would be coming home instead!!! I was elated, and he helped me out that evening. But, something was said that really embarrassed me and the water works started flowing....and kept flowing...and flowing all night long. The boys continued their marathon in true tag team fashion. As soon as one would fall asleep, the other one would wake up. Eric awoke the next morning to me still in tears and said he would try his hardest to get off as early as possible.

Finally, after being awake for about 30 hours, I was able to catch two 30 min naps. Then Eric got home at 1400 and told me to sleep for as long as I needed. He also continued to help once I woke up and even woke up to see if I needed help this morning at 0330 since both boys were crying. I also took Desiree up on her offer to help, so I got a much needed 4 hrs last night. It truly is amazing what sleep can do for your psyche, and we're all looking forward to Eric's 4 day weekend!

I hated those snaps too! I invested heavily in the gowns with elastic at the bottom that you can just whip up to change them. I so remember those days of no sleep and fluctuating hormones and emotions.....and I only had mine one at a time. If I could hug ya from TN, I would. Hang in there and know that you are an amazing mom, wife, friend, and just pretty darn awesome in general!:)

Hugs to you Mary! Absolutely NOTHING makes you more tired or more worn out than newborns!!!! And nothing prepares you for it either. This period of time goes by so quickly, although at the time it seems to lasts forever!

More hugs!!

I had dinner with my friend, whose little boy is 7 weeks old. She is always exhausted. I can't imagine 2!

With one newborn, the first six weeks are terrible. With two? I have to imagine it's nothing short of torture!

I have some baby clothes from my boys (that are blue but I'm keeping them for my girl, I don't care) that are kind of like long dresses/onesies but the bottom has an elastic, so all I have to do it open the elastic and push the clothing up around their waist to change their diapers. I pretty much kept my kids in those clothes daily for the first 6-8 weeks, because it was so much more bearable than snaps or zippers. Good luck to you!

Would you like me to find some of those gpwns to make this time a little less stressful? I have no idea how I would have ever done two at a time! You are wonderful; make that your mantra for today.

Good for you for accepting help! With my first I found myself crying all the time, sleep or no sleep. I was a wreck and was too embarrassed to let others help me. I finally realized that I had postpartum depression and got help from my doctor. I hope you're not experiencing this, but if you are, know that it's very real, be brave, and let others help. I'm sure that soon I'll be the one crying and posting about it on my blog! By the way, I think snaps are annoying too.

Woman, you are a TROOPER! Trust me, you're going to wake up one day (soon, it will be soon) and realize that the newborn haze is over. BIIIIG HUUUGS!!!

When my kids were babies that's all I bought were the zipper ones.

I think it takes a special kind of mother to be trusted with twins. You are awesome.

Oh sweetie! I hear ya! I don't know how you are doing it with 2! Accept help and find help! That's my best advice. Don't try to do it all yourselves! You'll both be wrecks! Love and hugs to you!!!!

I can't imagine the first six weeks with two... one was hard enough!

Big hugs! It is all worth it when they start smiling at you and interacting...

Oh, this is Danielle... guess I must have been checking Ben's email!

Yes MAry take people up on offers to help!! You had twins girl! LOL! As if you didn't know..and FEEL that! I know snaps are to protect the babies but that is a lot of snaps. Do you have pullovers that just have the snaps in their crotch?

Boo on snaps. Sorry about your lack of sleep....please try and get some this weekend....you need it. One baby was hard enough for me...I can't imagine two!

I reiterate what others have said - get the GOWNS! I only had one baby at a time and I know how exhausted I was! It will make your life much easier...save the snaps for later! :)

Gerber still makes zipper sleepers. I just bought a pack from walmart a long with the gowns. The only downside to gowns is that if they have a blowout you end up dragging poop clear up to their head trying to take it off. Good times. lol. I hope your feeling better. Sleep deprivation + horemones = bad juju.
