Were they really the good ole days???

My 10 yr High School reunion was last weekend. When I first got the invitation months ago, I honestly laughed. Maybe you remember those wonderful years of partying with friends, football games, and dances....me, not so much.

I do have to say that it wasn't all bad, but somehow most of my friends were either older or younger than me. I did have a hand full of friends that I talked to on a regular basis in my grade, but I mainly hung out with a group of kids from church and I was one, of maybe, two in my grade.

I moved to WA state the summer before I started HS, which made for a very awkward freshman year. My older brother was a senior, and I was the only girl my age in my ward (congregation). This made for a very sucky freshman year, and pretty much my whole 4 yrs there.

So, you can imagine my delight when friends posted pictures of the reunion on Facebook. Is it bad that I felt good that so many of the popular guys (aka douche bags) were balding, fat, or just looked weird...and that I wished a few of the girls were fat?

I am not bitter...I am just a different person now, and really have no desire to relive those days when one girl spread rumors that I got a boob job (b/c her's were saggy, and she was just jealous) or when one of the unnamed guys above decided to peel the tin foil off gum wrappers and throw all the little pieces in my hair.

I have to say that there were a few people that I would have liked to catch up with, but the majority of the people there probably wouldn't remember me or I'd have nothing to say to them.

And, I think that even if I still lived in WA, I probably wouldn't have attended anyway. I'm so much more happy with how my life has turned out, that I have no desire to see the people that made me feel like poo!

Did anyone actually enjoy High School??

I am right there with you. I did not cry at graduation.....I was ready to move on. They were not the best years of my life. They were not horrible years....I had friends that I still stay in contact with but honestly......I don't EVER wish I could relive those years. My best years came after that....college, meeting my husband, my babies, and friends like you. :) So cheers to NOW.....because I think these years might be the greatest years of my life. :)

High school was a flop socially speaking.

No, and I will probably never go to a reunion.

Not me. I was the quiet kid who sat in the back of the class and prayed to be ignored. Today, I am a living proof that God has a sense of humor...I have spent every day of my life for the past 24 years...in high school. LOL. We went to Frank's 30th at Choctawahatchee HS in Fort Walton...planned to go both nights...only went Friday night...he didn't really remember any of them....and I didn't know a soul. We chose to hang out with our daughter and nephew the next night....had dinner at McGuires...much more fun. I hate class reunions.

I liked high school, but I have no desire to go to a reunion. The people I care to talk to I keep in contact with anyways and don't need to go to a reunion to see. If I haven't seen or talked to you in 10 years, there's probably a reason for that. hahaha.

Sometimes I think I enjoyed it. But I think that was only one year. The rest was crap. And most of my friends were in the grade below me, anyway.

I didn't mind high school. Only because I met Tom there. But it wasn't my most FAVORITE time in the world.

I didn't go to my reunion either! I still remember those people that graduated before me yet I would see them hanging out around the school the next year. I couldn't believe it! I couldn't wait to be done with high school. Jeremy & I were just talking last night about old classmates. It's interesting to see them on FB & the really beautiful/popular people now just look normal. So what was the big deal back then?

I'm glad you hung out with us "older" folk! Do you remember when you, Mike, Braden & I went to see some movie at the drive-in?? And Braden wouldn't get back in the car? That was a funny, loooong night :) And this is turning into a reaaaaallly looooong comment!

I don't understand the whole reunion thing, personally. After 20 years? Who remembers anyone??? Most people move away and like you said, become totally different people. Even though I was very active in school and enjoyed it while in it, I don't know anyone from then, and don't feel badly about it one bit. No reunions for me!!
