For my non-military friends, this is something that us Army folk both look forward to, and dread at the same time. We are super excited because it means we won't be hanging in limbo anymore, and KNOW where we'll be for the next few years.
When Eric talked to his branch manager she said the current options were Italy, Ft. Bragg, NC and Alaska. I told Eric that if he got Alaska, I'd be waiting for him in Hawaii. We patiently waited 2 weeks and had heard nothing back from her...so today Eric called her....and found out...
We're going to Ft. Bragg!!!
We are both really excited. Eric will be able to stay airborne (and keep his jump pay) and my older brother & his AMAZING wife Michelle are currently stationed there (she was the first person I called)! Even though I really wanted to go to Italy, it will be a blessing to not have to try to sell the truck, and to stay stateside as we attempt to rent/sell our house.
When he told me what our report date was, my first thought was, "Michelle & I are going to have the BEST Halloween ever!"

MEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
That's great, Mary!
Yay for you guys! How exciting!
I'm glad you're excited about where you're going. It sounds like it's still a while til you move?
Our report date isn't until the end of October, but Eric is going to be gone from May to the end of September @ a school...so I might head out early. Still got a lot of logistics to work out.
We ARE going to have the best halloween ever!!! :-D
It really sounds like this is the best possible place for you guys to be! I'm so happy for you!
Congrats on the marching papers! I suppose I can wait for you to come to Utah for a few more years...then that will be an awesome Halloween!
So happy for you hun!!!! Congrats!
(And just a bit disappointed you won't be coming here. OK, a lot disappointed, lol!)
OK, I'm soooooooo jealous of your Halloween now! Luckies!
I am thrilled for you.....I love North Carolina myself. We go up every year in the fall because it is so gorgeous.
HOW EXCITING!!! And it's still nice & warm there for most of the year right? I'm so glad you didn't get Alaska, I seriously can't imagine. The summers would be great but then what about the other 10 months of the year??
We have some friends from dental school that are stationed there right now-he's doing oral surgery for the next 5 years or something. Ann-Marie & Logan Curtis-they're fun :) IF you meet them tell them I say hello! And how fun to be close to Mike & his family!!!
Congrats. That is exciting news.
