I have never ever bought a self-help book, or anything of that nature...but after view the following video on YouTube, I knew I had to buy the book, "The Last Lecture."
(the entire video is 1 hr 16min, and worth every second!)
I used my school related reading as an excuse not to read anything else, and I was missing out. I have become so consumed, and distraught with school lately, that I needed a release. I needed to read something that would uplift me and inspire me, and that is exactly what I found.
This book has some of the similar stories portrayed in his last lecture video, but it has so much more. It is less than 200 pages, but it gives you so much hope and inspiration. The author passed away this summer from Pancreatic cancer that had metastasized to his liver, but it isn't a book about cancer, it is a book about living.
I love his enthusiasm and pure love of life, and the care for those who surrounded him.
It also gave me some perspective and great advise about how I want to live me life.
With my new medications, my sleeping schedule has been severely wonky...and I finished the book early this morning...and it was just how I needed to start my weekend!

I think this is the book I heard about on NPR. It was coauthored with a friend, right?
The story I heard from the friend on NPR was amazing and very touching. It made me cry.
I think your book club should read it!!! But that is just my unbiased opinion.
ok you need to read the "mormon vampire" books- the twilight series. i need an adult to talk about them with!
I think it was 20/20 who followed Randy around and did a special on him. I watched it and could not stop crying, I'm getting goosebumps just remembering it.
Al, I just received the 1st one, I needed $6 to qualify for free shipping, and the book was the exact amount...and I am curious what the fuss is about...I will get back to you when I finish it...it might be a while!
Mary, I first saw a shorter version of his talk on Oprah, and had to learn more. Follow the link I posted for the entire lecture...and I really think you and Kristina should read it for your book club!
How wonky we talking here? Cuz I put the wonk in wonky!LOL
I don't sleep for about 2 days, then crash, and for about 2 weeks I can't seem to fall asleep before 0300.
I always seem to have the really fun side effects from medication ;-)
That's cool! How come I've never heard of that before??
I am a perpetual night owl...and I have ambien now...LOL...only a few times, but I have had conversations with inanimate objects...I had to explain to my Numb3rs dvd, that I had to make room for my most fave tv series so it would have to be put in the bookshelf in the closet...and Don and Charlie seemed mad so I was trying to appease them...yeah that was the most recent Ambien FUN!LOL
